Payroll Software Can’t Fix Payroll That Was Never Done Correctly. I’ll Help You Rebuild It.
Starting at $349 + $49 per employee, for each month of payroll history.
You might have paid employees in cash, paid yourself from your S corporation without running payroll, or tried to handle payroll yourself. Now you need to figure out what should have happened, what was missed, and what needs to be corrected.
That’s where I come in.
I don’t just enter numbers into software and hope they’re right. I’ll go through your records, reconstruct the payroll history, calculate the proper wages, withholdings, and employer payroll taxes, and investigate discrepancies. I’ll also work directly with your employees to obtain required information, such as W-4s and applicable state withholding forms, so you don’t have to chase everyone yourself.
My goal is to get your payroll records right, identify legitimate tax savings, and help you understand what you owe and what needs to happen next.

Why Pay For This Service Instead of Just Using Payroll Software?
Because entering payroll and fixing past payroll problems are two different jobs.
- I rebuild what never happened. If you paid workers in cash or never ran payroll, I’ll reconstruct the historical payroll using available records and supporting information.
- I check the numbers instead of blindly trusting them. I’ll review wages, employee withholding, employer taxes, and payroll records to identify errors and missing information.
- I get information directly from employees. I’ll work with them to obtain the required tax forms and withholding details, instead of leaving you to chase everyone down.
- I investigate what you actually owe. I’ll compare what should have been withheld and paid against available records, identify discrepancies, and help determine what needs correcting.
- I help you understand the financial impact. I’ll explain the taxes, penalties, and potential legitimate savings or overpayments I identify, so you can make informed decisions.
- I help move the problem toward resolution. I’ll work through the applicable filing and correction process within the agreed scope, and explain when separate tax return preparation or agency representation is needed.
You’re paying for the investigation, calculations, employee follow-up, and hands-on work needed to reconstruct the past, not just access to another software system.
What Will It Cost?
The price depends on how many months need to be rebuilt and how many employees were involved.
Example: If you’re the only employee of your S corporation and need six months of payroll reconstructed:
- $349 base fee + $49 for one employee = $398 per month of history.
- Six months × $398 = $2,388 total.
We’ll review your situation and confirm the price before starting, so you know what you’re agreeing to.
Payroll tax return preparation and filing are separate services and are quoted separately.
Getting Started Is Simple
1. Tell us what happened.
Did you pay cash? Skip payroll? Get a tax notice? You don’t need to know the technical terms. Just tell us what you did and what you’re concerned about.
2. We’ll review your situation.
We’ll contact you within one business day, discuss the records you have, and explain the work involved and the price.
3. We’ll work through the mess together.
Once you approve the quote and provide the records we need, we’ll reconstruct your payroll and explain what needs to be corrected.
How Long Does It Take?
When records are complete and straightforward, reconstruction can often be completed overnight. If records are missing or the situation is more involved, it can take longer. We’ll set expectations after reviewing your situation.
What If You Don’t Want to Use Payroll Software?
Not every business owner wants to manage another system.
If you need someone to handle payroll manually, I’ll discuss the work involved, calculate payroll using the information you provide, and help you meet the applicable payroll requirements. Ongoing manual payroll service is quoted separately from historical payroll reconstruction.
You can pay for software and still need someone to do the work. The point is to get the payroll right.
